The Pearl Research Symposium 2023 was held at the Mikimoto Pearl Island Museum Hall in Toba-city,
Mie Prefecture, for two days from 24 to 25 November 2023.
The symposium aimed to bring together people involved in pearl research in Japan in Toba-city,
the place where pearls were invented, to discuss the potential of pearls and to develop pearl research
as well as the pearl industry.Since Laboratory of Marine Biomaterial and Functional Biochemistry
has been conducting research on Akoya pearl oyster (Pinctada fucata) byssus, members of our Lab.
gave the following lectures and poster presentations at the symposium.
